Jonzac is situated amidst the Charente vineyards that produce Cognac and Pineau. You will find numerous cognac houses to visit, from the small local producers such as Jules Gautret in St Germain-de-Lusignan to the world renowned Hennessy in Cognac.
Vineyard landscapes are a perfect terrain for hikes on the sunny hillsides where you will encounter windmills.

Jonzac, a thermal bath town

The troglodytes thermal baths of Jonzac are set in an ancient quarry. The establishment sits between robust pillars of rock that make the place intimate. Its hydrothermal well is unique by its content in sulphur and mineral nutrients, recommended for the treatment of several ailments: rheumatoid arthritis, respiratory tract conditions and DVT.

The thermal baths attract 17000 tourists per year and has become the 7th thermal bath resort in France, thanks to the quality of the baths, the water and the treatments in the center, as well as the sunny climate.

Charente-Maritime, the second most popular tourist destination in France

Jonzac is ideally situated amongst a rich touristy area.
The Charente-Maritime area offers varied landscapes but also a rich architectural and cultural heritage, as well as a gastronomic variety not to be missed!
Jonzac allows you to visit surrounding cities such as Cognac, Saintes, Royan, Angoulême or even Bordeaux which is less than an hour away.

Around Jonzac, the hilly limestone lands ideal for vine growing, offers the possibility of beautiful drives and magnificent views, punctuated by wine tasting of the Pineau des Charentes or Cognac.
Less than an hour away from town, you will be able to discover the landscapes of the right bank of the Gironde Estuary with its small fishing ports and high limestone cliffs, with wooden houses perched on top.

The Oceanside is a stone’s throw from Jonzac and offers different activities and landscapes.
Royan, a peaceful seaside resort is at the confluence of the estuary and the ocean.
Further north, the wild coast sheltered by dunes and pine forests offers superb landscapes and beaches. You will be able to swim, surf, hike or visit the Palmyre zoo.

If you wish to explore further, the north of Charente-Maritime is accessible and is worth a trip! The towns of La Rochelle and Rochefort situated 1h20 mn are worth a visit thanks to their outstanding architectural heritage.
The isles of Oléron (1h20 mn) and Ré (1h40 mn) are a tourism hotspot, also the oyster fields of Marennes (1h15 mn) and the peculiar village of Brouage (1h20 mn) are recommended.
